The former Member of Parliament for Bortianor/ Nglishe / Amanfrom, Bright Demordzi has presented ten (10)) street lights and over one hundred (100) text books worth over GHc11,000 to Zion College and Whuti Community Library respectfully, all in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region.
The donations form part of his on-going Community Support Program (CSP) for towns and communities within Anlo Constituency.
According to him, “this is just little contribution under The Community Support Programs. Anlo is our home and whatever I have to do to support Anloland, I will do it, as a citizen of the land”.
He said, Zico is a special school to him…..“because during early 90s when we had some problems at Ketasco, I had to come to Zico, stayed with my Cousins and some friends to study together for the ‘O’ Level those days, so that feeling of belonging to “Zico Family” is there and the little I can also do, to give back to Zion College are the lights”.
His presentation followed his visitation to a cousin on campus in the night, where he realized that, the School has some challenges with lighting.
He therefore, decided to help, especially at the time The School is celebrating its 80th anniversary under the theme: “Promoting quality education: The role of stakeholders in moving Zion College forward”.
Zion College is one the best schools in the Volta Region and it is also one of the oldest schools in The Region, he acknowledged.
The Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration, Fredrick Awumee, who received the items on behalf of The College was full of joy and thanked The MP and his team for supporting them (in effect the students and the community).
He said, “I want to express my happiness for this donation, because as a school we have serious problems with the security that bows down to light system….In the evening, you see that parts of the compound are very dark, so with this donation from our brother, I think it will go a long way to help the school improve on the security system”
So we are so grateful to him and wish him well, he sounds prophetic.
The text books given to The Whuti Community Library includes: English Language, Agriculture and Environmental Studies, Information Communication Technology, Physics and Biology.
The rest are; Chemistry, Modern Economics, Social Studies, Mathematics, Christian and Religious Studies and Natural Science, as well as Past Questions and Answers in above mentioned subjects.
